Our church was founded as Nazareth on Beaverdam in 1803, which makes it older than 34 states. It's even older than Townville itself. It was renamed Townville Presbyterian Church in 1885. A complete history of the church is posted on the Historical Marker Database website.

Meet Our Pastor
Denny Read has served as pastor of Townville Presbyterian Church since 2022. He is also chaplain at AnMed Hospital in Anderson. An Atlanta native, Denny is ordained by Presbyterian Church (USA) and has earned degrees from The Citadel ('97), Columbia Theological Seminary (M.Div.,'02) and The University of Phoenix (M.Adult Ed.,'18).
Denny met his wife, Noelle, during Seminary. They married in 2002 and served as co-pastors for congregations in Indianapolis, IN, Birmingham, AL and Natchez, MS before moving to the Upstate. Currently, Noelle serves as pastor of Central Presbyterian Church in Anderson.
The Reads have four children, a son (age 19), and triplets (identical boys) and a daughter (all 13).
